1 Man, 1 Idea - Bog Bash

If you search far enough back, think long enough, dig through enough foggy memories and blurry photos—you always come to one person.

One spark. One idea. One guy who said, “You know what would be fun?”

That guy was Eric Crate.

Long before the term “Bog Bash” had ever been uttered—before the music, the laughter, the late nights and questionable decisions—there was just Eric, a few friends, and a wildly ambitious notion that people needed a place to come together… and maybe get a little weird in the best possible way.

Now, historians might debate the exact moment it became legendary—some say it was the first time someone stayed the whole weekend; others say it was the moment someone forgot to leave. Either way, what started as a gathering has become a tradition, and what started with Eric’s vision has become something we all feel proud to be part of.

He didn’t set out to create a cultural phenomenon. He just wanted a good time with good people—and somehow, he built something that keeps us coming back year after year.

So, as we look at what the Bog Bash has become, we tip our hats, raise our glasses, and maybe shake our heads a little in disbelief—because it all started with one guy who had an idea… and just enough charm to get the rest of us to show up.

Eric Crate - visionary, ringleader, and accidental founder of a very real tradition.
